Peterborough Community Radio hits milestone listener figures

Local radio station, Peterborough Community Radio (PCRFM) has shared that more people than ever are tuning in, and for longer.

Since February 2025, online figures show over 29,000 listeners tune in, doing so for an average of 2 hours each day.

These latest figures for PCRFM and sister station PCR Extra, show how important community radio is to the city of Peterborough.

PCRFM Breakfast Show presenter and Station Manager, Kev Lawrence says: “We are proud to serve our community and aim every single day to make a positive impact. We connect people and communities, as we inform and entertain each day.”

“Our local breakfast show speaks to community groups, businesses, charities, theatres and our beautiful Cathedral, all of whom make a positive impact on the city. Listeners and groups from all corners of Peterborough contact us daily asking to come on to the station.”

In the last few years, a huge number of local charities and nonprofits have been supported by the station, promoting the work they do and spreading the word of how people can utilise their offerings.

PCRFM reflects the diversity of the city through the shows it broadcasts, events it attends and facilities it offers. Kev says, “We love attending many local events every year. Experiencing and sharing the diverse communities they bring together. Our own studio spaces are used regularly for local meetings and have become a hub for collaboration, promotion and positivity.”

PCRFM provides a unique mix of music throughout the week, with local bands performing twice a week in the Orton Malborne based studios.

Friday night is all about sports, when different teams and clubs are invited to share their success and promote the sporting opportunities they provide.

In addition to the shows available on FM and DAB, sister station PCR Extra offers a wide range of alternative shows. Across the week listeners will find Indian music, reggae tracks, Czech rock, dance music and live recordings of local artists. PCR Extra also serves as the local training station for up and coming presenters.

Many of the shows on PCRFM and PCR Extra are presented by the 40 hard working unpaid volunteers, with a variety of backgrounds and specialist music interests.

PCRFM is a non-profit, not seeking to make money from its activities. With the support of advertisers and sponsors, the station is able to cover the costs of keeping it on air, including three paid members of staff.

PCRFM can be heard on 103.2FM and DAB across Peterborough, as well as online at pcrfm.co.uk, on smart speakers and the PCRFM mobile app.
