{"id":23,"date":"2018-06-11T12:27:17","date_gmt":"2018-06-11T11:27:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oliverneedham.co.uk\/blog\/?p=23"},"modified":"2018-06-07T21:45:29","modified_gmt":"2018-06-07T20:45:29","slug":"creating-animations-for-brands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oliverneedham.co.uk\/blog\/2018\/06\/creating-animations-for-brands\/","title":{"rendered":"Creating Animations for Brands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Logos can be pretty boring sometimes.<\/p>\n<p>They get printed on balloons, letterhead, car stickers and so forth, but none of them are\u00a0<em>animated.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Over recent years, I&#8217;ve been asked to animate some logos and event theming for a few organisations.<\/p>\n<h2>The Awards Ceremony<\/h2>\n<p>Having been involved in community radio since the age of 12, I love the idea of an awards ceremony to celebrate the hard work of those involved in local, grassroots radio. That&#8217;s what the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.communityradioawards.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Community Radio Awards<\/a> does.<\/p>\n<p>Christopher Smith of <a href=\"http:\/\/vibrantcolour.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vibrant Colour<\/a>, old radio colleague and supporter of the event, asked me to animate the logo he&#8217;d worked on for the awards.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/182003289\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" data-attachment-id=\"44\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/oliverneedham.co.uk\/blog\/2018\/06\/creating-animations-for-brands\/communityradioawardslogoanimation\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/oliverneedham.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/CommunityRadioAwardsLogoAnimation.gif\" data-orig-size=\"480,270\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}\" data-image-title=\"Community Radio Awards Logo Animation\" data-image-description=\"\" data-image-caption=\"\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/oliverneedham.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/CommunityRadioAwardsLogoAnimation.gif\" class=\"size-full img-fluid w-75 wp-image-44 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/oliverneedham.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/CommunityRadioAwardsLogoAnimation.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Alongside the looping logo animation, I created some motion backgrounds, which would be used as placeholders during the awards ceremony itself.<\/p>\n<h2>Scout &amp; Girl Guiding Event<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/poacher.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Poacher International Jamboree<\/a> is an event which takes place every 4 years and with a new brand design, came a chance to add some energy into the logo.<\/p>\n<p>Taking the friendship knot design and adding in a reveal and twirl gave video intros and announcements the excitement they desired.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-responsive embed-responsive-16by9\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/131253149\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The design is also being updated and reused for the Poacher 2021 event, which will be launched later this year.<\/p>\n<h2>Christmas Carols<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/westminsterchapel.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Westminster Chapel<\/a>&#8216;s annual Christmas Carols are always a highlight in the church&#8217;s calendar, with 2018 being their biggest celebration yet.<\/p>\n<p>With a glittery season brand, I injected some further sparkle in to the pre-service visuals and online publicity.<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-responsive embed-responsive-16by9\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/245507186\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Alongside these visuals, variations were made to be used in the darkened venue. You can see some of them in action in <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/247595131\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this compilation video<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Future Projects<\/h2>\n<p>I&#8217;m currently working on some animations for Westminster Chapel&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westminsterchapel.org.uk\/what-were-up-to\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Summer of Fun<\/em><\/a> which will be happening throughout July in Central London.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re interested in having you logo or brand animated, <a href=\"mailto:oliver@oliverneedham.co.uk\">let me know<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Logos can be pretty boring sometimes.
